🦁FolderTube for Brave: Installation and Setup Guide

Before you install

You need:

• Brave on desktop (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
• A YouTube account you are signed in to.
• Two minutes.

Install FolderTube on Brave

1. Open the FolderTube listing on the Chrome Web Store in Brave.
2. Click 'Add to Chrome' on the FolderTube page. Brave installs Chrome Web Store extensions exactly like Chrome does — there is no separate Brave-specific confirmation.
3. Confirm the permissions in Brave's install dialog.
4. The extension installs and is now visible in Brave's toolbar.

Set up FolderTube on YouTube

1. Open youtube.com in Brave and sign in if you are not already.
2. Click the purple FolderTube button in the top-right of the YouTube page. This opens the FolderTube sidebar.
3. Press the sync subscriptions button to import every channel you follow.
4. Create folders for the categories you want — Tech, Music, Cooking, anything.
5. Drag channels into your folders. A channel can live in multiple folders.

Brave Shields and FolderTube

Brave Shields is Brave's built-in ad and tracker blocker. On youtube.com it runs at the default setting, which usually does not interfere with FolderTube. If FolderTube's purple button does not appear after installing and refreshing:

1. Click the Brave Shields icon in the address bar while on youtube.com.
2. Try setting Shields to a lower aggressiveness for youtube.com (or temporarily off) and refresh the page.
3. If the FolderTube button appears with Shields lowered, the issue is a specific Shields rule — you can usually leave Shields at the lower setting just for youtube.com without affecting other sites.

Common Brave setup issues

The purple button does not appear

Refresh youtube.com after installing. If still not visible, check the Shields settings as described above, and verify the extension is enabled in brave://extensions.

Sync does not pull all subscriptions

Make sure you are signed in to the right Google account on YouTube. The sync uses the YouTube account currently signed in.
