FolderTube for Arc Browser: Installation and Setup Guide

Arc is built on Chromium and supports Chrome Web Store extensions natively. Installing FolderTube on Arc takes the same steps as on Chrome itself. This guide walks through it and covers Arc-specific UI notes (the extension icon and toolbar behavior differ a little from Chrome).

Before you install

You need:

  • Arc Browser on desktop (macOS or Windows).
  • A YouTube account you are signed in to.
  • Two minutes.

Install FolderTube on Arc

  1. Open the FolderTube listing on the Chrome Web Store in Arc.
  2. Click 'Add to Chrome' on the FolderTube page. Arc installs Chrome Web Store extensions exactly like Chrome — no separate confirmation.
  3. Confirm the permissions in Arc's install dialog.
  4. The extension installs. Arc shows installed extensions in its toolbar — for compact UIs, the extension may be tucked under a 'Manage extensions' menu.

Set up FolderTube on YouTube

  1. Open youtube.com in Arc and sign in if you are not already.
  2. Click the purple FolderTube button in the top-right of the YouTube page. This opens the FolderTube sidebar.
  3. Press the sync subscriptions button to import every channel you follow.
  4. Create folders for the categories you want — Tech, Music, Cooking, anything.
  5. Drag channels into your folders. A channel can live in multiple folders.

Arc-specific UI notes

Arc's UI hides the traditional Chrome toolbar by default. A few things worth knowing:

  • Extensions appear in Arc's address bar pop-out menu rather than a permanent toolbar row. You can pin frequently-used extensions for easier access.
  • FolderTube's main UI is rendered inside the YouTube page itself (the purple button and sidebar), so the toolbar pin is optional — you mostly interact with FolderTube from within YouTube.
  • Arc's Spaces feature lets you keep multiple Google accounts in separate spaces. FolderTube respects whatever YouTube account is signed in to the current space.

Common Arc setup issues

The purple button does not appear

Refresh youtube.com after installing. If still not visible, verify the extension is enabled in arc://extensions and that no other YouTube-modifying extension is blocking it.

FolderTube state differs between Arc Spaces

Each Arc Space shares the same extension installation, but YouTube state (which account is signed in) can differ by Space. If your folders look wrong in a Space, check that you are on the YouTube account you used to set up FolderTube.

Pricing on Arc

Pricing is identical to Chrome. Free plan: unlimited top-level folders, 30 Mark-as-Watched videos per month, 3 channel-video searches per day. Premium: subfolders, custom colors, unlimited Mark as Watched, unlimited channel video search — $2.99/month, $19/year, or $39 lifetime.

For other browsers, see FolderTube for Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, or Vivaldi.
