YouTube's built-in channel search
YouTube does let you search within a single channel: on a channel's page, there is a search icon (usually near the channel banner or inside the channel's menu) that opens a search box scoped to that channel. It works, but two things make it easy to overlook: it is not always in the same place across YouTube's different layouts, and it is a separate action from the global search bar at the top of YouTube โ searching from the main search bar searches all of YouTube, not the channel you happen to be viewing.
If you already know where that icon is on a given channel, it works fine for a quick lookup. The friction shows up when you are jumping between several channels and want the same search motion every time without hunting for the icon.
Searching a channel's Videos tab with FolderTube
FolderTube adds its own search field directly onto a channel's Videos tab (URLs like youtube.com/@channelname/videos). It sits near the sort/filter chips at the top of the video grid, so it is in a consistent, visible spot regardless of which channel you are on.
- Go to any channel and open its Videos tab.
- Type a keyword into the FolderTube search field that appears near the sort chips.
- Press Enter or click the search button to filter the grid to matching titles.
- Clear the field (the ร button) to restore the full list.
The matching is a title filter: it hides videos already loaded on the page whose titles do not contain your keyword, and shows the ones that do. As you scroll and YouTube loads more videos into the page, newly loaded videos get filtered the same way. If nothing on the page matches, FolderTube shows a short no-results message instead of leaving you scrolling through an empty-looking grid.

What counts as one search
Typing is free โ the counter only increments when you submit a query (Enter or the search button). Pressing Enter again on the same unchanged query does not count a second time, but clearing the field first and then re-running that same query does count again, since clearing resets the tracker.
What this search does and does not do
- It matches video titles on the channel's Videos tab, not descriptions, captions, or comments.
- It only filters videos YouTube has already loaded into the page โ it does not query a separate index of the channel's entire history in one shot. Scrolling further loads more of the channel's catalog, and the filter keeps applying as that happens.
- It works on one channel at a time, on that channel's own Videos tab. It is not a cross-channel or folder-wide search.
When to reach for this vs. other tools
If you are trying to find something specific on a channel you already know well, in-page title search is the fastest path.
