Why BookTube feeds get hard to scan

A BookTube subscription list mixes fast, list-style content (TBR videos, monthly wrap-ups, book hauls) with slow, discussion-heavy content (author deep dives, readalong check-ins, literary analysis). The first kind is useful for quickly deciding what to pick up next; the second is closer to a book club conversation and needs a different mindset to watch.

When both are mixed together, the feed either feels overwhelming (too many things to sort through before picking one) or you end up skipping content you would have enjoyed simply because it was buried.

Folder structures for BookTube

By content type

TBR & Hauls (what's next, unboxings, wishlists), Reviews (spoiler-free verdicts on individual books), Author Deep Dives (creators who go deep on a single author's body of work), and Book Clubs / Readalongs (structured multi-video discussions of one book over time). This split maps directly to whether you are deciding what to read or discussing something you have already read.

By genre

Fantasy, Literary Fiction, Nonfiction, Romance, Classics. Useful if you follow genre-specific creators and want to browse within a genre rather than by video format.

If you are starting from scratch, four folders cover most BookTube subscription lists:

Set it up in FolderTube

1. Install FolderTube from the Chrome Web Store.
2. Click the purple FolderTube button on YouTube to open the sidebar.
3. Press the sync button to pull in your subscribed channels.
4. Create your folders and drag channels in. Each channel lives in one folder at a time, so for a creator who does both hauls and deep author analysis, pick whichever fits their main format.
5. Open the Subscriptions page and filter by folder depending on whether you are picking your next read or settling in for a longer discussion.

When subfolders earn their place

If Reviews grows past 10–15 channels, splitting it by genre (Reviews > Fantasy, Reviews > Nonfiction) keeps it scannable. Book Clubs / Readalongs is also a good candidate for subfolders once you are following more than one readalong at a time, so each one gets its own space.
